Jenna Bonistalli creates works of embroidery through handmade paper. She is fascinated and inspired by the myriad relationships within and among species of the plant kingdom. Her work explores ecological interactions and phenomena. Jenna designs installations and environments using light and projection.
She is a member of the Aquarium Gallery and Studios in New Orleans, LA. Selected gallery exhibitions include: 5 Press Gallery, Aquarium Gallery, Dancing Grounds, Octavia Gallery and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Site-specific works include: Wildflower Night at LUNA Fête – Arts Council New Orleans (2015), Illuminating Emergent Vegetation at Nuit Blanche /Bring to Light NYC (2010) and Stealing the Queens Royal Jelly with Malini Srinivasan and Dancers at Stonybrook University (2011) and Arts Brookfield New York (2016). Jenna earned a BA from New York University’s Gallatin School, an MSEd from Bank Street College of Education and has studied at Penland School of Crafts and Paper & Book Intensive at The Oxbow School. She is currently pursuing an MA/MFA in Sculpture.
