Rachel is a second year graduate student from Kalamazoo, Michigan. She graduated from Kalamazoo College with a BA in Art History and minored in English and Philosophy and also played four years of women's varsity softball. Rachel has always loved studying art but her captivation with the discipline began during a course focused on Dadaism and Surrealism and how the movements explored the realms of the unconscious mind - a primary reason why she also decided to study Philosophy. Rachel's undergraduate thesis examined the different aspects of museum spaces, particularly what is often referred to as the "Period Room" and how patrons move about and interact with artworks displayed alongside other objects and narratives that provide historical context. Her hope is to continue studying Modernist movements such as Dadaism, Surrealism, Post-Impressionism, and Cubism while exploring their underlying philosophical/psychological contexts.
