Visual Arts Building (open for classes Fall 2016)

Professor Kee-ho Yuen, Professor Steve McGuire and Tony Sutowski, Instructional Service Specialist, show off the specially designed door handles for the new Visual Arts Building. Yuen and Sutowski helped with the design and manufacture of the new handles, which will be used on the main entrance doors.

Steven Holl Architects in collaboration with BNIM Architects, designed the Visual Arts Building for the University of Iowa. The new building replaces the 1935 Art Building, which was heavily damaged during a flood of the University of Iowa campus in June 2008. The new building is directly adjacent to and northwest of Art Building West and is at least two feet above the 500-year flood line.
