Graduating with honors in the studio arts
Students in the UI School of Art, Art History, and Design have the opportunity to graduate with honors in the studio art major. To be eligible for departmental honors, the student must meet minimum grade-point average (GPA) requirements at the beginning of the semester in which they will graduate, which are a UI cumulative GPA of 3.33 and an art major GPA of 3.50. Students complete departmental honors projects during the semester they will graduate.
To graduate with departmental honors, students arrange for a studio art faculty member to be their honors project advisor. They then register for Honors in Studio Art (ARTS:4190). To fulfill the requirements of the departmental honors, students must have an honors project exhibition, and submit an honors application with title page, abstract, and CD of images.
Honors students should consult with their academic advisors about the honors requirements in detail during early registration for the semester in which they plan to graduate.
