Following in the artistic and educational legacy of Chunghi Choo (1938-), who produced work and taught at Iowa for almost 50 years, Iowa's Jewelry and Metal Arts program encourages students to use contemporary and traditional tools and techniques in exploring the frontiers of their discipline.

Our faculty and students create not only jewelry, but also metal sculpture, mixed-media work, and functional objects ranging from bicycles and flatware to light fixtures furniture. Their work is displayed nationally and internationally—including in biennial faculty art exhibitions on the UI campus—and their products are widely commercially available.
