The School of Art, Art History, and Design has a fully functional wood shop facility that includes a sanding room and CNC router.

Safety

Access 

Access to the wood shop facility is available for students enrolled in the School of Art, Art History, and Design courses. It is considered a privilege to use the shop and is expected that it will be used in accordance with all safety rules and restrictions as determined by the School of Art, Art History, and Design and the University of Iowa. Failure to comply with any of the following protocols may result in disciplinary action including loss of access:

Safety requirements 

These safety requirements must be met to access the wood shop:

  • Online training - required once per academic year, ICON self-enrollment 
  • In person training - required every semester wood shop is accessed. In person training can be scheduled by contacting Adam Krueger
  • Working with an instructor on all independent projects.

Fees

A $25 fee is charged to U-Bill at time of first use to cover the cost of consumables for the semester.
